I hear often my students to say: “I don’t have time to practice home” or “I am too tired to practice”. I can understand this feeling of busy-ness and tiredness: most of my clients are active women, devoted mothers, in the age when they have to take care about their family, raging parents, social functions and yet find time and energy for themselves.
So I share with them my own “Bed Yoga” practice. It takes few minutes in the morning, no need for mat or props, and it kick nicely the new day. On the top, the mattress helps to secure the movement in cozy way. This is not the challenge or achievement asana focus (as unfortunately it often is), but a true moment of time for ourselves and reconnect with our body before the active day starts.
As I recently moved from Dublin to Paris, this kind of asana practice was the nearly only one I was able to do (no mat, no quiet room, few days living in hotel, travelling back and forth between Paris-Dublin-Prague_Madrid…). It saved my day and my back! (You can read about how yoga helped me in our international moving here)
If you feel like you want to try next morning, do all the “flow” or pick up 2-3 asanas and go for it. Move gently, breath deeply and enjoy the soft waking up.
Have a great day!
